Frequently Asked Questions
Can I mark a surface after it's already underwater, or does it need to be marked before submersion?
How long does the mark last while the surface stays submerged?
Is an underwater surface marker the same as a wet surface marker?
Why Standard Markers Fail Below the Waterline
Full submersion is the most demanding condition a marker can face. Standard ink is designed to dry and cure in open air, so it never gets the chance to bond before water dissolves the pigment, washes it off entirely, or prevents it from transferring to the surface at all. Mighty Marker® underwater surface formulas are engineered to cure and bond while fully submerged, so the mark stays legible underwater, not just resistant to a splash or a few minutes of rain.
Where Underwater Marking Matters Most
Underwater marking comes up anywhere a surface stays submerged during or after the job: subsea pipeline sections, ship hulls and ballast tanks below the waterline, underwater welding and dive work, and submerged components on offshore and marine construction projects. If the surface won't be dry when the mark needs to be made or read, it's an underwater application, not just a wet one.
